Though the 1856-S half dollar issue was struck at a reasonable mintage for second year San Francisco production, few MInt State survivors are known. GFRC is quite pleased to be offering this PCGS certified MS63 example, one of the six certified. This release exhibits undisturbed steely-frosted luster and swirling cartwheels under the desk lamp. Strike is complete with boldly raised motifs. A few micro ticks are evident in the right obverse field, but of no consequence on eye appeal. Serious fans of the half dollar series may wish to consider this addition as few arrive to market at this grade level. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2024) holder. PCGS #6289.
