Misplaced 8 Digit Right of Scroll, Brilliant Frosted Luster, Peripheral Copper-Gold, Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. The 1889 Seated dime date is prime for misplaced digit varieties including some spectacular examples in the lower shield. The F-115 variety features a misplaced digit seen directly to the right of the scroll end. This die preparation artifact appears to be the top loop of an 8 digit. This variety is typically found weakly struck as is the case here. Thick mint frost covers both sides with strong radiance under a bright light. There is the faintest of rub with this piece being a conservative AU58 that will easily holder if so desired. Purchased March 1999 and employed as the Liberty Seated dime online reference plate coin.
