 Original $400 New March 23! Double Die Obverse Left, Golden Shades, Saw Mill Run Collection. As a rule, the 1855 With Arrow date is much scarcer than its earlier 1853 A&R and 1854 Arrows counterparts. Unlisted in Briggs are two 1855 obverse dies with obverse die doubling in the shield lines. The Saw Mill Run Collection is releasing an example of the 1855 Doubled Die Obverse with the doubling seen on the left side of the vertical shield lines. Few have been noted since its discovery as I look at every 1855 quarter for this die variety. Partial golden toning is overlaid across coin gray surfaces with original mint frost noted on the lower reverse. Strike is typical for the issue. Housed in PCGS 5.0 (2015) holder.
