Gem $950 New March 5! Two Sets 18 Digits Misplaced in Lower Shield, Brilliant Frosted Luster, Swirling Cartwheels, Gem Original. First announced by Dr. Tim Cook in the LSCC's June 2009 E-Gobrecht issue, the 1888 F-120 die variety presents two sets of 18 digits easily seen in the lower shield with shield line #7-8 bisecting the 18 digits. Traces of extraneous digits are also visible on the lower gown area above and to the right of the pendant. This extraneous digits will wear quickly and mostly likely will disappear on EF or lower examples. Dr. Cook is now releasing a magnificent F-120 example graded NGC MS65 along with a CAC green bean. The Gem Mint State grade and complete strike present all the artifacts of this important variety including the extraneous digits on the gown folds. This is a brilliant steely-frosted example with sharp reflectance and swirling cartwheels under a bright light. The reverse toning is exceptionally pleasing with orange center flanked partial blues at the border. I've got to call a JUST BUY IT NOW recommendation as this piece is truly special for Liberty Seated dime enthusiasts. Housed in new large font NGC holder with CAC approval.
