Scarce in EF, Choice Original, Massachusetts Collection.. 1844 dimes may be considered moderately scarce in circulated grades up through VF but become quite challenging in EF or better and very rare in Mint State. This example is accurately graded with in hand gray-brown-gold patination. Under bright light, golden highlights surrounded the stars and reverse legend. Strike is hammered and surfaces are blemish free. The CAC census indicates 69 stickered in all grades and a price guide value at $1150. Previously from the Saw Mill Run Collection and sold into the Massachusetts Collection December 2016. Freshly reholdered and housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2025) holder with CAC approval. PCGS #4585.
