Hubbed Arrows & Date, Gem Original, Ideal Type Candidate, CAC Approved. With the Coinage Act of 1853, the supply of silver to the Mint increased dramatically, and the production of dimes grew nearly tenfold during that year. As such, there is a good supply of high grade survivors in the present day market. Type or 1853 date set collectors should focus on an original skin, uniform mint frost, and complete strikes when pursing high grade specimens. This newly consigned example exhibits creamy frosted luster with consistent light gold toning. The overall strike is complete with meticulously detailed hair curls and wreath leaves. The CAC population census notes 23 pieces in MS66 with nine pieces finer. The CAC guide value is $3,150 and the current offer price. Housed in a PCGS Gen 4.0 (1998-2002) holder with CAC approval.
