Knowledgeable collectors will immediately recognize the significance of this Massachusetts Collection offering as 1852 New Orleans strikes are scarce and always popular given the low 430,000 mintage. This lot exhibits brilliant, frosted luster, but more important, a hammered strike as this date is notorious for partial strikes. Fields are essentially unabraded with the slightest of ticks that will not bother even the selective collector. F-101, with a large thin O mintmark.
