The 1864 Philadelphia issue sports a mintage of 93,600 and is scarcer than prior year 1863 strikes. Surviving circulated examples for this Civil War date are concentrated at the EF40 and EF45 grade levels with PCGS pop report indicating 31 total. That amount is meager as compared to the numbers of collectors attempting build a date and mintmark set. This Lakeland Collection release is fully choice with steely fields overlaid by natural coin gray patination. The orange-gold peripheral toning further enhances its charm.
