Pimple Rusted Dies, Gem Original, Tenafly Collection.. An amazing offering for the passionate die variety collectors among us. Previously buried in the Gerry Fortin Reference Collection before being sold into the Tenafly Collection, this gem 1876-CC F-131 dime returns to the marketplace. This F-131 die variety is fondly known as the "pimple rusted die" along with the reverse also being severely pitted. For whatever reason, this dime was never listed as the F-131 discovery piece and purchased well before Liz Coggan brought an EF45 example to my attention in 2008. Rust pimples are located throughout Liberty's body on the obverse. Coupled with the rust pimples, the obverse die is in a late die state with heavy metal flow lines from UNITED STATES OF AMERICA to the denticles. This gem example offers brilliant, frosted luster and swirling cartwheels. The F-131 plate coin within The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors online reference. Worthy of aggressive bidding. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.1 (2002-2004) holder with CAC approval. PCGS #4680. December 1969
