Original $1150 New April 13! Low Mintage Date, Steely Fields, Even Gray, Emerald Collection. 1880 was another small-mintage year for the Liberty Seated half dollars denomination with only 8,400 being struck for circulation. Given its low mintage, many survivors will exhibit partially mirrored fields as is the case for this lot when viewed under a bright light. The fields are consistently steely, but exhibit proof like characteristics at the borders. Toning is a consistent gray with peripheral golden accents on the reverse. The strike is essentially complete with fully defined star center points. Rub is seen throughout Liberty and in the fields. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder.
