 Original $265 New December 31! Medium O, Shattered Reverse #2, Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. A crusty original 1842-O F-102a example that was purchased during November 2002 during the Liberty Seated dime die variety research period. Greer had listed this reverse, with its massive die cracks, as Shattered Reverse #2 in his DLRC Press guidebook. Fortin took the liberty of adding this variety to his Top 100 Varieties listing as #22. Even wear is noted on both sides with the reverse devices being notably weak as hubbed. There is an ancient and fully toned over line on the left side of the upper shield extending into the center motif while the reverse is problem free. I've assigned an GFRC-Original quality rating due to the obverse line. This dime ships in its original cardboard 2x2 dating to 2002.
