 Choice $1400 Small O, Eroded Dies, Satiny Luster, Orange-Gray Patina, Newtown Collection. Both obverse and reverse dies are eroded with radial metal flows lines in the denticles. The reverse area surrounding AM(ERIC)A is heavily eroded with multiple die crack through the legend lettering. This example features a orange-gray "skin "with more uniform orange-rose on the reverse. Strike is complete. A few ancient micro-ticks are seen in the fields and fully toned. 1840 New Orleans strikes continue to be very scarce in AU and rare in Mint State. Housed in PCGS Gen 5.0 (2015) Dupont hologram holder. Previously from the Birmingham Collection and sold in the Newtown Collection. Now back on the market after a five year hiatus.
