$1500 		Rare Business Strike Date, Choice Original, Mirrored Fields, Accurately Graded, Seal Beach Collection. One of the Philadelphia date issues from the low mintage period of 1879 through 1890. The 1888 features a low mintage of 12,000 but with a high survival rate in mint state. The MS64 grade level is the ideal value point as MS65 brings a price doubling. In MS63, I would expect too many hairlines as most example come with proof like fields and hairlines become too distracting. This lovely example offers brilliant reflective luster from mirrored fields. The overall appearance is consistent with the MS65 grade level but there is small chatter spot in the right obverse field that warrants the assigned MS64 grade. This is always the issue with heavily mirrored business strikes; any surface aberrations are amplified by the proof fields. Housed in old blue label PCGS holder with standard ring insert.
