Very Small Mintmark, Original Surfaces, Gun Metal Gray-Blue Patina, Typical Strike, Accurately Graded, Dr. Glenn Peterson Collection. Strictly original surfaces are immediately evident on the lovely 1840 New Orleans strike with very small mintmark. Toning is a uniform gun metal gray-blue on both sides. Under a light source, embedded rose hues appear. Strike is typical for the die pairing with star 7 lacking connected centril and weakness on the lower left facing eagle leg. Blemish wise, there are several ancient lines on the reverse that are fully toned over. Housed in 2015 style PCGS holder. The PCGS label reads, "Very Small Mintmark WB-102" with Peterson pedigree. An solid offering from the Dr. Glenn Peterson Collection. December 1969
