Pre 1965 U.S. Coinage Type Set (Basic)

The Basic Type Set, containing all pre-1965 U.S. coinage, is an opportunity to showcase the history of U.S. coinage types since the U.S Mint's origination. The purpose of this Registry Set is to simply enjoy how varies the series of U.S. coinage as well as their similarities. In essense the Basic Type Set is a high level perspective to the evolution of U.S. coinage design.

From a collector's perspective, this Registry Set signifies a broad respect for all U.S. coinage and comes at a lower cost than many other Sets given the lower quantity and higher flexibility in filling gaps. Only a single coin from each major pre-1965 design and denomination is needed. The Basic Type Set contains 53 coins, most of which are readily available and affordable, while a few will be more challenging in any grade. A good manual to help you with this Set would be: A Guide Book of United States Coins Professional Edition, 5th Edition.

The Advanced Type Set expands on this Set and contains many major (and a few minor) varieties within each design and series. If you are realty determined, you may even want to start there!
