Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Several of the 1855 obverse dies exhibit die doubling. On Obverse 3, die doubling is most evident on the entire length of the right edge of the shield. This obverse die has been labeled Doubled Die Obverse #2 since two other 1855 obverse dies have been identified with obverse die doubling. Doubling can also be seen to the right of the upper sections of shield lines 10 and 12. Additional doubling can also be seen along the right edge of shield lines 2, 4, 6 and 8 in the lower shield area.
