Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: The bold top of a misplaced 1 digit is visible in the denticles directly below the 8 in the date. Traces of the top loop of an 8 digit are also visible in the denticles below the 7 in the date. The obverse die is heavily clashed on most examples of this variety. Reverse F is also clashed with die cracks in the right wreath. This variety offers the strongest example of a misplaced date in the denticles for the Seated dime series. Discovered by Chris Pilliod and Teary Searcy during the 1991 FUN show. First listed in the Gobrecht Journal and relisted as MPD-002 in the Kevin Flynn "Two Dates Are Better Than One" misplaced date reference book.
