Comments: Obverse 4 is paired with the initial doubled die reverse of 1889. This obverse can be attributed by the horizontal die lines in the middle and lower portions of the shield. The second 8 digit in the date is repunched. Repunching is seen under the left base of the 8 digit. The distinct doubling of the veins in the maple leaves can be used to identify Doubled Die Reverse #1. Also check for the strong doubling of the outer left portion of (O)NE and (D)IME. Finally, this reverse is heavily clashed with marks behind (O)NE and through the DIM(E). I have only seen Doubled Die Reverse #1 paired with Obverse 4.
