Liberty Seated Quarters - New Orleans Date Sets

The 20 coins comprising the New Orleans Liberty Seated Quarter set are favorites amongst variety collectors. The early struggles at the mint, which began producing seated coins in 1838, resulted in many interesting varieties, die marriages, and die states. It is often a challenge, however, to locate well struck examples of the New Orleans quarters. Some issues are nearly unknown with Liberty’s hair and the obverse stars fully struck up, for example. The 1891-O quarter occupies a unique place in the set as the only “with motto” quarter struck in New Orleans and the first quarter produced there following a 31 year hiatus.
Submission to the New Orleans Date Set registry can be accomplished via input forms located at the Basic Set, Business Strikes page. Once a complete Seated Quarter set is submitted, the New Orleans dates are extracted to populate this subset. Every effort will be made to quickly post your set or recent updates!
