Ultimate #53 WB-8, Medium Date, Choice Original, Newtown Collection Vertical die lines to the right of Liberty’s head identify this WB-8 half, while the reverse die crack, which encircles the coin in later die states, is most noticeable between S and O. The Medium Date variety is easily distinguished by the crosslet of 4, which touches the base. Lightly mirrored luster reveals golden obverse shades, more intensely around the stars, while the reverse exhibits mottled russet color. Moderate cartwheel remains, as expected for the grade level. Most star centers are sharp while the eagle’s left leg feathers exhibit smoothness as often seen. Nicely struck with all star points and most feather detail evident. Housed in a PCGS Gen 4.5 (2011-2013) Gold Shield holder with CAC approval. The label reads "Medium Date, Walter H. Childs." CAC has approved 11 pieces in all uncirculated grades combined.
