Seated 50C 1840
1840 Rev 1839 EF45 Seated 50C PCGS 30847583
Ultimate #3 WB-5, Reverse of 1839, Choice Original, Newtown Collection The steely fields of this early Seated half exhibit a surprising amount of reflective luster for grade. Silver and gray centers lead to deeper slate and russet patina in the stars and legend, with additional bits of gold outlining the eagle. WB-5, with date sloping upward, while a die crack connects stars 1 and 2. The reverse is most easily identified by the lack of a bisecting die crack that appears on the WB-4. A few stars reveal inner detail while the reverse exhibits eagle feathers melding together. Surfaces reveal scattered marks, notably around Liberty’s head, but fields are hairline-free and original as such. CAC certification is easily justified, with 63 pieces so approved by CAC in all grades combined. Housed in a PCGS Gen 5.0 (2015) Dupont hologram holder with CAC approval.
