Choice $2975 Important Key Date, Choice Original Surfaces, Uniform Gray Patina, Accurately Graded. Ex. Outback and Newtown Collections. Key Civil War date in a special preservation state. Serious Liberty Seated dime collectors recognize how difficult it is to located choice examples of the 1860 New Orleans date. Mintage is tiny at 40,000 with most being lost and rediscovered in Civil War battlefields. Then there is the Type 1 obverse design hub that has weak relief and wears down quickly. Probably 80% of the surviving examples have some amount of environmental damage or have been repaired enough to be certified by the TPGs. This example is different and offers traditional gray patina that we associate with natural toned silver; it is one of the few I've seen. GFRC originally sold this example into the Newtown Collection after locating privately. Tthe Newtown Collection consigner upgraded this example and then sold into the Outback Collection. Now it is back with GFRC for another release back to the marketplace. If you are a passionate Liberty Seated dime fan, then consider this example even if your coin is a slightly higher grade. The eye appeal should exceed most that are available. Housed in 2013 generation PCGS holder with CAC approval.
