Type 1 Liberty Head

Choice $5650 CAC Condition Census, Rare in Mint State, Rich Frosty Cartwheel Luster, Well Struck, Accurately Grades, Osprey Collection. The 1852-O has the second lowest mintage of any Type 1 New Orleans mint gold dollar and is also the second rarest. Locating choice examples in higher uncirculated grades is very difficult. The CAC population report validates this fact with only three approved at MS63 level and three finer. Rich frosty luster is the highlight of this choice original offering. Surfaces are essentially abrasion free with a few very faint wispy hairlines seen under bright light viewing and nothing else. Obverse die is heavily cracked with die cracks from 9:00 to Liberty's nose and another from star to the bonnet. Coloring is natural medium green-gold. Strike is typical with the reverse DO(LL)AR and 8 digit being a tad weak. Overall, a quality representative of this rare date in Mint State. Freshly graded and housed in Gen 6.0S Gold Shield PCGS holder with CAC approval. An exceptional advanced collector offering from the Osprey Collection.
