Choice $3450 1853/4 Popular Overdate, Late Die State, Golden Frosty Luster, Active Cartwheels, Completely Struck, Choice Original Surfaces, Sunset Point Collection. A popular 1853/4 overdate specimen in the Liberty Seated quarter series. Obverse die is found in a late die state with the remnants of the last three digits and arrow visual under the final date punch. The under type can be found inside the upper loop of the 8, along the outside stand of the 5, and within the upper loop of the 3 digit. In addition, the right arrow shaft on the obverse has also been repunched. At the Mint State grade level, this die variety is rare with PCGS population report indicating six graded MS63 and another six finer. This choice original example offers frosty golden luster and active cartwheels. Surfaces are minimally marked for the grade. Strike is complete on both sides with no points of weakness for this picky cataloguer. Fairly graded and housed in old blue label PCGS holder with standard ring insert that dates back to the late 1990s. Part of a complete set of Liberty Seated quarters offered by the Sunset Point Collection.
