CSA Restrike

1861 Confederate Half Dollar Reverse, J.W. Scott Restrike, Perfectly Preserved, Rich Frosty Luster, Bold Obverse Strike . The CSA reverse strike is toned an attractive lilac-rose while the obverse is colored an even gun-metal gray when examined under a bright light. The strike is exceptional on the Confederate reverse side, with full lettering and devices, while the obverse has essentially no flattening that we've come to expect on CSA Restrikes. Choice surfaces offer rich frosty luster as was in place during time of issue. Over the years, many CSA Restrikes have been mishandle, but not this survivor as so pleasing. The characteristic CSA arcing reverse toning lines (outlining the former reverse eagle in blue) are present and validate strict originality. There were 500 of these pieces struck by J.W. Scott around 1879 in order to fill collector demand, as the four original Confederate half dollars were well beyond most collectors' means. Freshly graded and housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 holder. If you have ever considered owning an 1861 Scott CSA Restrike, this is the time to act as I really like this piece.
