Scarce Philadelphia Date, Exceptional Eye Appeal, Choice Original Surfaces, CAC Approval. Exceptional eye appeal is on full display with this semi-key date 1850 Seated half. A no question challenging date in the Liberty Seated half dollar series due to significant melting prior to the reduction of silver planchet weight during 1853. Given the profit potential of silver arbitrage from larger denomination silver U.S. coins, many issues from 1850 through 1852 were exported and melted leaving few choice survivors for modern day collectors. We are fortunate that this near-gem survived. Lightly mirrored fields offer sharp reflective luster during bright light inspection. Mottled center rose and peripheral blues are the primary toning colors. Strike is fully executed on both sides. The WB-4 obverse is rusted throughout the Liberty device which adds further charm. It is recognized that the asking price is strong, however I'm going with a JUST BUY IT NOW recommendation as this piece might be the finest on the planet. Housed in newer NGC holder with edge view insert and CAC approval.
