Gem $4850 New January 14! Partial Drapery, Eric P. Newman Collection, Old Paper Envelope Toning, Hammered Strike, Accurately Graded, Tenafly Collection. Consignment Buy-Out - New Low Price! Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green/Eric P. Newman. The F-108a Partial Drapery die variety that results from a clash of the E in DIME near the elbow along with heavy reverse die clashing on the right reverse. NGC decided to not list the Partial Drapery designation on the brown EPN label claiming the obverse clash mark was too weak. I discussed this directly with NGC prior to the November 2013 Eric P. Newman sale since the "extra drapery" clash mark is visible but muted by the thick patina. To set the record straight, this high grade mint state example was struck from the partial drapery dies and during the correct die state. This gorgeous example has satiny luster and a hammered strike. Gem surfaces are smooth and covered with thick crusty olive-gray, lilac, and chestnut-brown toning. Housed in the original EPN brown label holder with CAC approval. This piece brought $6756 at the November 2013 auction.
