6/Horizontal 6, Impressive Example, Only Two Graded AU58, Late Die Stae Reverse, Sharp Reflective Luster, Copper-Gold Patina, Completely Struck. One of the two 1846 6/Horizontal 6 examples certified at the AU58 grade level by PCGS. This specimen is strictly original with crisp reflective luster and a transparent layer of copper gold patina. Strike is hammered with high relief stars and deeply impressed reverse devices including those pesky eagle claws and arrow feathers. The obverse diagnostics are bold including the horizontal 6, the heavy obverse rim cudding below the date and die cracks connecting stars 1 through 6. The reverse is in a late die state with heavy die cracks. A partial cud is forming about (UNIT)ED. Blemishes are to a minimal with none worthy of mention. Accurately graded as there is light rub on the left facing breast and lower leg. Housed in new 2015 style PCGS holder. A truly important offering for the passionate Liberty Seated half dollar collector who wishes to own one of the major die varieties. December 1969
