Rare San Francisco Date, Gray Patina, Near Choice Original Surfaces, Accurately Graded. Second year issue at the San Francisco mint with low mintage of 286,000. Most were placed in circulation as the Western region required small denomination coinage for local commerce. As a result, survival rates are low and most are found with preservation issues. CAC has approved only nineteen examples in all PCGS and NGC grades. This new GFRC offering exhibits near choice original surfaces that are covered with gray patina. Under a light source, the toning exposes some embedded olive shades. A well struck example with strong device details remaining, especially on the reverse. Scanning with a 10x loupe, the originality is validated by residual verdigris surrounding the date, reverse denomination, and legend. Two ancient micro lines are seen on Liberty's upper body and are of no consequence. Housed in new PCGS Gen 6.0 holder and ready for a new home in an advanced Seated quarter collection. December 1969
