Capped Bust 25C 1824/2 Capped Bust 25C 1824/2
Key Capped Bust Quarter Date, Circulated Cameo Gray, Accurately Graded . 1824/2 is the key Capped Bust quarter date if one ignores the very rare 1823/2. A mintage of 24,000 was produced from a single die pairing. Due to heavy circulation, most survivals are well worn and typically found with surface issues. The key date status and high pricing structure has brought many specimens to the market place. More than half of the CAC approved pieces are at the AG03 through F15 grade levels. This F15 example is a gem for the grade and worthy of a JUST BUY IT NOW recommendation. Circulated cameo eye appeal is immediately evident and results from contrasting lighter main devices against darker gray fields. Surfaces are entirely unabraded other than an ancient line by stars 10 and 11. Open collar capped Bust quarters are a challenging series with long term value potential. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder. A Chicago ANA new purchase. December 1969
