Low Mintage Date, Frosty Luster, Swirling Cartwheels, Greenish-Gold Patina, Osprey Collection . The 1901-O date has a limited mintage of 72,041. This date is readily available in grades up through MS 62 and become scarce at the MS63 level. This date is known for heavily abraded surfaces and below average preservation quality. The Osprey Collection specimen is above average quality and offers brilliant frosty luster with swirling cartwheels. Coloring is greenish-gold. Considerable eye appeal is at hand including a complete strike. MS63 is the last "affordable" grade level as MS64 brings a typical $7500 price tag with only a single piece graded higher at MS66.
