Pre-Whitman Baltimore Show Sale! O-109 Die Pairing, Mirrored Fields, Steely Reflective Luster, Gun Metal Gray-Rose Patina, Accurately Graded, Jim Poston Consignment. An impressive 1834 O-109 Capped Bust half with mirrored fields on both sides. Most early halves are seen with frosty surfaces and heavily die flow lines in the milling. This specimen is the exact opposite with mirrored fields and bold crisp devices typical of freshly polished dies that were placed into a mint press. Gun metal gray-rose coloring is enhanced by the reflective luster. An ebony peripheral ring frames the obverse. This Capped Bust half has been difficult to accurate photograph and looks much better in hand than on the images. For example, the spotted obverse toning in front of Liberty has been amplified. It is barely visible during in hand inspection. Housed in PCGS Gen 3.1 (1993-1998) old green holder. A cool offering from Jim Poston that deserves a second look by specialists.
