Original $2300 Rusted Dies, Frosty Luster, Well Struck, Original Silver Gray. 1850-O Seated quarters are notorious for being poorly struck, especially the peripheral details on the obverse. Many of those seen in AU will have partial heads and flat upper stars. Adding to the overall appearance difficulties are rusted dies and uneven strikes. Collectors will shy away from this date due to the poor strikes and problematic surfaces. GFRC is thrilled to be offering this choice AU58 example. From a mintage of 396,000, PCGS has certified only 14 in AU58 and 14 better in Mint State. This new purchase warrants the attention of Liberty Seated quarter experts. Frosty luster is predominant with sharp reflective surfaces under a light source. This piece is fully original with silver gray surfaces. Die rust covered Liberty's gown folds and shield while also being embedded in the reverse eagle feathers. Strike is much better than average with Liberty's clasp and gown line fully impressed. A few stars lack center points which is actually a compliment of the date. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.1 (2002-2004) holder.
