CSA Scott Restrike

Choice $4300 CSA Scott Restrike, Choice Original, Cumberland County Collection. The CSA Scott restrike combined the original reverse die from the Confederate half dollar with a "store card" obverse die bearing the name of New York coin dealer J. W. Scott. The mintage, reported in the Guide Book, was 500 pieces. These were struck in white metal, and will have different luster and toning patterns than silver coinage. This piece exhibits reflective luster with mixed silver and blue shading. Some obverse chatter likely inhibits CAC consideration. While not to be confused with one of the four CSA-struck half dollars, which are near-million dollar coins, this Scott token still claims contact with a die employed under Confederate authority, in order to create its own coinage. Housed in a PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder.
