New August 3! Key Seated Dollar Date, Tiny Mintage, Affordable Price, New Jersey Collection. Q. David Bowers, in his "Silver Dollars & Trade Dollars of the United States: A Complete Encyclopedia", estimates that probably 85 to 125 1871-CC dollar exist today in circulated grades. This date is the lowest Carson City mintage for the Liberty Seated design. The date is highly prized in any grade. The New Jersey Collection has released a decent VF Detailed certified example in new PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2021) holder. The details certification is the result of an old cleaning that has left the surfaces an even light gray. Surfaces are free of overt hairlines and major abrasions while the rim integrity is solid. Under a light source, fields retain a steely texture without the typical glossy appearance that one sees on many cleaned silver pieces. With GFRC images, I've tried to capture the gray coloring though the green shades are a bit amplified. If you've always wanted to own this rarity, now is the time to act as the asking price is consistent with the PCGS VG08 price guide number. December 1969
