New August 3! No Arrows Open 3, Natural Coin Grade Patina, Rarity Consistent with 1878-S, New Jersey Collection. The 1873 No Arrows Open 3 date and variety is the Rodney Dangerfield of numismatics. It does not secure respect for its rarity since not a unique requirement for a Liberty Seated half dollar date and mintmark set. Nearly all collectors subtle for the available Closed 3 example. Few Open 3 specimens appear on the market since current price structure is too low. The New Jersey Collection has released his cherished example that was purchased decades ago at a higher price than the current offer level. Surfaces are strictly original and covered with a natural coin gray skin. Obverse toning contains brownish shades while the reverse is classic silver-gray. Strike is nearly completed with two stars lacking center points. There is one subtle ancient mark on the rock that is fully toned. An important offering that warrants serious consideration by true students of the Liberty Seated half dollar series. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.1 (2002-2003) holder. December 1969
