Seated 50C 1850 Seated 50C 1850

Choice $1600 New June 30! Underrated Philadelphia Date, Steely Reflective Luster, Complete Strike, CAC Approval. . An underrated date in the Liberty Seated half dollar series due to significant large denomination melting prior to the reduction of silver planchet weight during 1853. Given the profit potential of silver arbitrage from U.S. silver ladened coins, many issues from 1850 through 1852 were exported and melted. This surviving example is well preserved and sufficiently choice for CAC approval. Residual steely luster is consistent with a higher grade. Both sides are toned light gray that is transparent to the underlying luster. Peripheral gold and aquamarine adds to the overall eye appeal. Strike is fully executed and noteworthy. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 holder with CAC approval.
