$1650 		Noteworthy Eye Appeal, Rich Honey-Gold, Steely Luster, Choice Overall. The release of an old time $2.5 Liberty gold collection continues with this 1880 Philadelphia example. This is a better date with only 2,960 pieces issued. Rich honey-gold, that borders on orange-gold, should be evident from the GFRC images. Under a bright light, the obverse exhibits sharp reflectivity from lightly mirrored fields while the reverse radiance being a tad more steely. The strike is complete with well defined motifs. Surface and field rub is noted primarily in the obverse. A choice example that is fairly priced. Housed in PCGS Gen 3.1 (1993-1998) old green holder. December 1969
