$2000 		Partially Mirrored, Near-Gem Original, Saw Mill Run Collection. The 1851 New Orleans issue sports a mintage of slightly over 400,000 but its scarcity is well recognized. A trip through the GFRC Sales Archive revealed only three examples sold at the offered grade with none being CAC approved. This lot, from the Saw Mill Run Collection, is a monster in terms of presentation and should be at the top of the acquisition targets. Bright light inspection exposes partially mirrored fields and corresponding reflectance along with predominately rose and blue transparent toning. A complete strike is also noted. The CACG population is 8 total with a price guide value at $1600 which is must too conservative for this offering. Housed in new CACG holder and graded to strict standards employed for CAC stickering approval. PCGS #6267. December 1969
