$1725 		No Arrows, Choice Original, Massachusetts Collection.. 1853 No Arrows dimes saw a limited production of 95,000. Production of the heavier weight planchet was terminated early during 1853 in favor of a lower silver weight to resolve the silver arbitrage issue facing United States silver coinage. Today, 1853 No Arrows dimes are scarce in all circulated graded with most graded survivors being available in Mint State. This PCGS AU55 certified example offers choice surfaces overlaid with light gray patination and hints of golden hues. The issue typically comes well struck as is the case with this Massachusetts specimen. The CAC census reports 38 approved, but with 50% being certified Mint State.
