All motifs are fully defined by a hammered strike including partial wire rims. The lack of any toning suggests a dip to achieve the white coloration. This 1871 Philadelphia strike is one from a mintage of 907,710 accomplished with 14 obverse dies and 13 reverse dies with only a single remarriage.
