 Gem $8000 Near Finest Known, Gem Original, Massachusetts Collection.. This duplicate, from the Gerry Fortin Reference Collection, found a caring home with our Massachusetts client. A superb gem that features a natural skin that is on the "crusty" side. The underlying satiny luster is still able to radiate through the patina during bright light inspection. Surfaces are fully unabraded as is to be expected for a piece that is in the condition census. Strike is 100% complete though "delicate", which is typical for the die pairing. PCGS population is a scant five pieces with only one finer. No MS66 graded 1869-S dimes have been approved at CAC as an additional datapoint.
