 Choice $900 New September 2! Choice Original, Thick Rose-Gray Patina, Tenafly Collection.. A choice original 1838 New Orleans strike with old time rose-gray patina that is expected for the date. The F-102 die pairing features an eroded obverse die since a single die was employed to strike the entire 1838-O mintage. During the F-102 die pairing, the obverse is eroded with a loss of major device details as seen on this example. Blemishes are limited to several ancient field lines that did not bother CAC. The 1838-O date is often selected for a type set given the higher degree of difficulty. CAC has approved 70 in all grades with a price guide value of $900 as reference. Previously from the Woodlands Collection via GFRC. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder with CAC approval. PCGS #4564.
