 Gem $3250 New September 2! Superb Gem Type 1 Obverse Presentation, Brilliant Reflective Mirrors, Tenafly Collection.. What a pleasure to be again offering this magnificent 1860 proof strike that originated from the Washington State Collection. 1860 brought 1,000 proof strike with the newly engraved and hubbed Type 1 obverse design per Longacre-Paquet. The design proved to be unpopular due to rapid wear of the high points and a flat overall appearance. When examining this piece, one of the finer extant, the intricate device details become apparent. I promptly noted that Liberty's legs and breasts are quite elevated as compared to the low relief head details. Fields are brilliant reflective and surround frosted motifs. The Cameo eye appeal is thoroughly pleasing. If attempting to build a Liberty Seated dime proof set collection (1856-1891), this example will set the bar for premium quality and warrants a strong bid. CAC has approved 6 at the PR65 grade with eight finer. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder with CAC approval. PCGS #84753.
