 Gem $1500 New September 2! Civil War Philadelphia Issue, Gem Original, Tenafly Collection.. What a special offering when checking the CAC population report! This evenly worn 1866 dime is the lowest graded example approved by CAC, other than a Fair02, with the next approved being a VF20. Few 1866 dimes went into circulation and remained there for extended periods leading to a high rarity status when found this optimally worn. Greer estimates the rarity to be R6 at the G/VG graded in his Guidebook on the series. Worthy of a gem quality rating and a place in an advanced Liberty Seated dime collection.
