$1850 		Challenging New Orleans Issue, Original Gray, Well Struck, Accurately Graded. The 1855-O date is infrequently encountered in the marketplace due to a mintage of 176,000 and a low survival rate. The survival rate is similar to that of the 1849-O in circulated grades but priced at a fraction of that date's premium. The PCGS population report shows only 13 combined in both EF grades. This EF40 graded survivor is fully struck for the date. All stars have connected center points and Liberty's lower leg is fully rounded with above average head details. The reverse strike is bold with deeply impressed claws and arrow feathers. A light gray patina is heavier on the reverse. Some scattered field marks preclude a full choice quality rating.
