The 1842-O Small Date quarter is distinguished by the flat top of the 1 digit, which becomes slightly curved with a pointed flag on the Large Date variety. This near-VF example exhibits natural coin gray shading throughout with lighter high points leading to a moderate circulated cameo appearance. The strike is typical, Although not CAC-approved, this piece is choice, with unabraded surfaces. Briggs 1-A, the early die state, with an undamaged reverse shield. The 1842-O Small Date variety is highly prized in all grades and is a focal point of any set of Liberty Seated quarters.
