 Original $2100 Rare Grade, Bold Strike, Steely Surfaces, Golden Patina, Lasalle Collection. The 1847 New Orleans issue is scarce in all grades and becomes quite rare in AU. This date is notorious for flatly struck stars and the top of Liberty's head according to Briggs. The LaSalle Collection has released an AU50 example which is one of only six certified by PCGS at grade. Steely obverse reflectance is readily apparent under a bright light with golden hues being predominant. Golden-gray toning is noted on the reverse with a bit softer luster. Of importance is the bold strike with all star center points clearly defined along with a fully detailed head. The reverse is equally well struck. Briggs 2-C discovered by Larry Briggs May 1987 and remaining as a very rare die pairing. Astute Seated collectors should be paying close attention to this offering. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder.
