 Original $3500 Key San Francisco Date, Residual Frosted Luster, LaSalle Collection. 1861 San Francisco Seated quarter offering which brings the distinction of being the key west coast mint date in the series. Mintage is documented at 96,000 units with few saved from California gold mining town commerce. Nearly the entire mintage was placed into circulation and remained there until well worn or lost. This survivor is noteworthy for its limited wear and residual frosted luster under a bright light. Device are bold and well defined for the issue. Light gray toning covers both sides with enhanced ebony on the central reverse. Examining the PCGS population report, this date thins out quickly at the VF35 to EF45 level with few finer.
