 Original $900 Scarce San Francisco Date, Residual Frosted Luster, Lasalle Collection. The Liberty Seated quarter series is replete with multiple scarce dates with mintage under 100,000. One of the dates is the 1868 San Francisco issue with a mintage of only 96,000 and low PCGS populations throughout the circulated grades. Only nine are reported at the EF40 grade when viewing CoinFacts. Between EF45 and AU58, there are an additional 18 graded and few known in Mint State. This newly consigned example features residual frosted luster on the obverse while the reverse is covered with a uniform gray skin. Light wear is seen on the high points and in the obverse fields. Strike is typical for the Type II/II design by James Longacre. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder and fairly priced based on past records in the Sales Archive.
